James E. Ransome is the creator of award-winning books for children including A Joyful Christmas and The Bell Rang, as well as the illustrator of many acclaimed picture books, including Quinnie Blue, Germs: Fact and Fiction, Friends and Foes, This Is the Rope, Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt, as well as Uncle Jed’s Barbershop which received a Coretta Scott King Honor.
